I try to find complex problems that offer simple (and overlooked) solutions. The McKenzie-Willamette Hospital debacle (if it goes on much longer, that d in debacle will need to be capitalized) doesn’t quite fit. The problem is complex, for sure. But the solution isn’t quite simple. I’ve decided to go for it anyway, and beg the editors’ indulgence to describe the problem fully and then hint at a solution. I will then follow it with a quick summary of the problem and a full description of the solution. But that’ll take two columns, not only one. But they will be in sequence, so I hope readers will track OK.
