… Dubya & Dubai …

March 8th, 2006 by dk

Bush has always fancied himself a prudent manager, planning for the future, covering all his bases. This might explain best why he’s willing to veto anything that doesn’t allow Dubai to have its way with our ports. Every prudent dictator needs an exit strategy — a vacation villa in a country that has no extradition treaty with his homeland. Strong leaders eventually attract strong opposition. In that case, it’s always good to have a place to call home. Whether it’s a war-crimes tribunal, or street violence, or just a nation stripped of its riches and its pride — a safe haven is always a good idea.

Dubai is just the sort of place the Bushies enjoy. Lots of money being made, lots of growth of every sort, fun fun fun, and no taxes of any kind. Google “Dubai Disneyland” to get an idea where a worn out Dubya is dreaming of his retirement.

Funny and too true. But Dub’s just the most visible example of our inbred ruling class sensing the end of a monarchal run. I’m guessing all the recent presidents and half the Senate have escape hatches and off-shore plans for the future; and their plans don’t include us.

As a fan of ethnic profiling, I’m against the UAE deal for all the usual low IQ reasons. What do I know? I’m just a poet.

But it’s amazing how Bush supporting UAE giving money to the Brits is somehow feathering his retirement nest. Yet raw vacuuming of UAE cash isn’t.

Guess who’s going to sleep in the pool house behind Dubya’s dacha? (Hint: $1.4M will pay for a lot of poetry books for chubbie interns.)
