GWB is threatening to veto an appropriations bill unless a conference committee strips it of a John McCain-sponsored amendment that affirms the current U.S. policy forbidding torture of prisoners. If he makes good on his threat, it’ll be his first veto in 5 years, and it’ll deny (or at least stall) money for our soldiers. Hmmm. Is our president really anti-anti-torture? Nah, he’s anti-John McCain. It looks like the 2008 presidential race has begun.
