Loading ...A friend in college once told me, “Whenever I hear the phrase ‘having your cake and eating it too,’ I think of you.” Was ever a nicer thing said about anyone? I wanted to play around with the idea of shorter subjects this week, but the people I talked to really were interested in either Springfield’s winning streak, or the Ducks’ losing streak. Using a story that many may have missed about a Portland High School football team that purposely takes a penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct to begin each game, I was able to weave both topics together. (Special thanks to Greg for steering me toward a terrific loop-back to finish the column.)
