Loading ...Can we distinguish between drinking and drunkenness? Can the Eugene City Council? Will they on Sept. 24, when they will be faced with a suggested change in a city ordinance as it pertains to game day tailgating near Autzen Stadium. Will they allow drinking (which is already rampant) in the lots near the stadium, which is technically against the law right now? Or will they agree with the police that this instance of public drinking is not the same as a public nuisance that is often also public drunkenness?
Can liberals come to terms with the uncomfortable truth that regulations serve better to enfeeble people than to empower them?

One of these four ideas will be developed into a column on Wednesday to be published in The Register-Guard on Friday. I’m asking you to help me choose between them.
